Note that you will need Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or a later version (on Windows platform only) installed to run this plugin. You can select a friend, modify the various items on the avatar (including appearance, apparel, background, pets and extras), and once you are satisfied with the new look you can send the updated Avatar to your friend. You can even create a new Avatar if your friend does not already have one. It is fed by the conversation between two friends. The benefit arrises as the conversation continues and keywords are extracted, then posted, and, finally, related terms appear. Similar to a braching effect. The flow of the app goes as follows: keywords, extracted, are listed at the top. Related terms, in the form of a weighted cloud, are then rendered as links. Below the tag cloud is a scrolling ticker that displays the frequency of the same related terms as with the cloud. Both, the cloud and the ticker, are linked and, once clicked will make a results field appear in the cloud space. Here, the viewer can view Y!News articles relating to a key term the user has clicked in either the cloud or ticker. Lastly, there is a flickr a module. This piece is loosely related to the key terms as well. NOTE: this application is in it's early stage and will be continued to be developed much further. I appreciate this contest as it lit a fire underneath me to get something up and out. IN the future, Y!Insight will mature into a full search machine.
