The first panel allows users to specify their location by clicking on a map as they register and enter other things like a description. When they login they can view another panel which detects all online users and displays a flag for each with their username as the title and other details on click and pinned according to their stored address they chose during registration. This online user map auto-refreshes itself by reading a MySQL table that stores the user session. After ten minutes of no activity in the forum a users flag is removed from the online map (session cleared in database) and it's all done in realtime using scripted timers in conjunction with PHP. The third map panel users have access to shows all registered members of the forum itself with a flag pinned for thier location in the world and also loads it's data from live MySQL from the database.
